Based in Wellington, New Zealand, Urban Research Associates was launched in 1973 by Judith Davey, Rosemary Barrington and Jenny Neale.

Originally set up to consult and conduct research throughout the public, private and voluntary sectors, URA now focuses on the ageing population and its policy implications.

Dr Judith Davey

Judith is a respected consultant on social policy and social research, and has published extensively across academic papers, books, book chapters, and commissioned reports.

She provides advice to numerous policy making bodies in the public, private, and voluntary sectors. Most recently she has been focusing on income, work and housing issues for older people, and she is is the Lower North Island’s Regional Representative for the New Zealand Association of Gerontology (NZAG).

Judith is a former Senior Research Associate of the Institute of Governance and Policy Studies at Victoria University of Wellington. From 2002 to 2007 she held the position of Director of the New Zealand Institute for Research on Ageing (NZIRA), which she was instrumental in setting up.

She was the Senior Lecturer in Social Policy at Victoria University of Wellington for over 15 years. Prior to 1991 she was the Deputy Director of the New Zealand Planning Council.
